Do you have a couple of hours to share a month?
February 9, 2022

Fairfax FISH, "For Immediate Sympathetic Help", is an outreach organization made up of volunteers from 14 churches in and around Fairfax City.

FISH provides short-term help for people in temporary difficulty: financial and food assistance to people living on the edge

St. Peter's in the Woods supports FISH and you can help too!

There are many ways to get involved: become a trained volunteer answering phones, deliver food, donate food or clean clothing, or give a monetary donation.

For more information click the green box or look over their flier. Parishioner Ed Pouchet would love to talk to you!

Energy Saving Tips for your Home
January, 26, 2022

Would you like to save energy and money on your heating bills this winter? Do you wish you could feel warmer indoors? At the same time, would you also like to help reduce your impact on climate change by reducing your greenhouse gas emissions?

TIP: Cold winter days are the best time to locate places of heat loss in your home. Anywhere you feel cold air coming in is also where heat is escaping!!

Virginia’s Energy Sense program has lots of useful tips that make it easy and inexpensive for homeowners to seal air leaks in their homes and add insulation to reduce energy loss with a short payoff time.

Homeowners can also borrow thermal cameras from the Fairfax County libraries to locate places in the home where heat is being lost; a waste of your hard earned money.

A little time can save a bundle of money while also helping to be good stewards of creation!

Our weather has turned colder, and the peak season for feeding birds has begun! Bird feeding is a delightful way for people of all ages to connect to the birds they love and help them to survive this very cold winter we are experiencing here in Virginia. Click here for information from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s PROJECT FEEDERWATCH on how to make the most of your bird feeders this winter. Supporting essential wildlife in our community is one way we can care for creation.

Precautions During the Surge
January 1, 2022

We want to remind you of our community’s existing precautions and enhanced measures. We will be implementing these for the near-term:

  • Masks are required for all in-person worship. If you forget your mask, our ushers will hand you one to be worn during worship.
  • Communion in one kind will be offered in small cups on the large patens at the front of the altar.
  • Please allow space between family groups as you sit in the sanctuary.
  • For now, congregational singing will be on pause. We’ll enjoy instrumental music for the near-term.
  • Coffee hour will also be on hold until the number of new cases comes back down or the weather permits us to enjoy our coffee on the patio.

We are watching the data and monitoring the situation weekly. Please know that we are counting on your cooperation to be able to continue holding in-person worship during this surge of new cases.

Sorry, we couldn't find any posts. Please try a different search.
