We like to sing a variety of styles in 3, 4, or 5 parts, from classical to contemporary, traditional to gospel. We are always welcoming new members. Our rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:30-9pm, and we meet half an hour before service each Sunday to warm up, robe up, and run through the day’s anthem. Occasionally the Adult Choir will join with other area choirs to perform larger works. We also like to travel: this summer we will sing the national anthem to open a Potomac Nationals game, and some of our members will venture up to Ocean Grove, NJ for a choir festival by the beach! We like to work hard and laugh heartily as we seek to glorify God in song, and celebrate God’s love and art as passed down through the ages.
The Youth Choir is made up of elementary and middle school children of the church. We have fun as we learn the anthems and hymns, as well as fundamentals of music and liturgy. Our anthems are either unison or two parts. Come join us to grow as a singer and build friendships in the community!
If you are interested in singing in choir but unable to commit to weekly rehearsals, then this group is for you! We gather Sunday mornings to learn the anthem for the day to sing for the service. Feel free to drop in any time and be a part of this exciting ensemble!
Throughout the year there are various other opportunities to provide special music at St. Peter’s in the Woods. If you are interested in sharing your musical gifts with the community at St. Peter’s in the Woods, please let our Director of Music, Chad Steffey, know. He can be reached at csteffeySPIW@gmail.com. Make a joyful noise to the Lord!
