DESCRIPTION:Church is going to the dogs! Well\, sort of. On Saturday\, October 4\, bring your furry friend (and stuffies) to church at 2pm for an outdoor blessing in honor of St. Francis Day. \nOn Sunday\, October 5\, bring a photo of your faithful companion (tell the kids to bring their stuffies) and Rev. Susan will say a blessing over the photos and stuffed animals as we remember our care for all of God’s creatures at both the 8am and 10am service. \nIf you submit a photo of your pet to the SPW office by Thursday\, October 2\, we will include them in the presentation that plays on the TV in the Narthex and at the beginning of the YouTube video.

DESCRIPTION:All are invited to join us for a spin on the classic Halloween event at our 2nd Annual TRAIL or Treat With on Sunday\, October 26 after the 10am service. Your kids will enjoy a not-so-scary stroll through our sanctuary forest located behind the church. \nWHO should attend? Any and all kids and families! Costumes encouraged! Please note\, the trail behind the church is not paved so if you’re bringing little\, little ones\, be prepared to carry them as the trial is not stroller friendly. \nWHAT? A family-friendly stroll along the trail behind the church (5-10 minutes) with stops along the way for candy. \nWHERE? We’ll meet at the top of the trail (off the driveway on the Fairview Woods side of the property) at 11:30 – it will be clearly marked! \nWHEN: Sunday\, 10/26 at 11:30. Come to church and Sunday School at 10am first\, or simply join us at 11:30! \nWHY: CANDY (need I say more?!!) Plus a fun chance to connect with other parents and friends. \nHope to see you then!

DESCRIPTION:No one in this world should be hungry. That’s why the Burke CROP Hunger Walk is more than just a gathering of people in a place. We’re part of a movement\, taking steps and raising funds together to provide meals for those in our own community who need them – and supporting programs that create greater food security in communities all around the world. \nPlease join us in the fight against hunger. The steps we take and funds we raise will make a difference in the lives of others. \nOur walk is approximately 3.6 miles down Burke Centre Parkway\, starting at Burke Presbyterian Church\, with a water break and turn-around at Knollwood Community Church. \nCheck-in starts at 1:30\, guest speakers at 1:45 and then step-off is at 2:00. Join us after the walk for fabulous giveaways from local sponsors!

SUMMARY:St. Nicholas is Coming to Sunday School
DESCRIPTION:Kids are invited to leave their shoes in the hallway of the Sunday School wing\, or outside the narthex\, for a special treat from St. Nicholas! St. Nicholas was a 4th century bishop remembered for his special care of children and secret gift giving. In Europe\, children leave their shoes outside their doors for St. Nicholas to fill with chocolates. He’ll also visit our Sunday School classroom\, telling his story and talking with the kids about the importance of giving. Be sure to join us for a fun and meaningful day!
